Posada de Balitx Townhouse

Posada de Balitx is a beautiful 11th-century townhouse located in the narrow, cobbled and plant-filled pedestrian streets of Fornalutx. Discover this awesome mountain village near the well-known town of Soller. This townhouse combines ultimate comfort with the very best of contemporary urban living. Breathe in the essence of this valley planted with orange trees from its elevated position, with Puerto de Soller and its beach just 15 minutes away.

The simplicity of its stylish decoration elegantly combines historic charm with high levels of comfort for an ideal vacation. A top-to-toe refurbishment has brought it back to life, mixing modern features with state-of-the-art interior design, creating a fashionable yet rustic luxury holiday home. Slightly uneven floors, big wooden beams and classic Mallorquin stone-cladded walls blend with locally sourced microcement, terracotta tiles and modern furniture and fixtures.

The main feature is the terrace with outdoor seating for 12 people. The terrace is shaded by grapevine and bougainvillea. Here is also the plunge pool of approx 15 square metres and a depth of 2.2 metres! From the terrace, there is access to the courtyard garden. The barbecue and dining terrace is practically placed close to a spacious and well-equipped open-plan kitchen and a large double living room with a fireplace (one of several in the house).

Posada de Balitx offers 660 square metres of living space with breathtaking views over the village and the surrounding mountains, both from the upper roof terrace and from the lovely dining terrace by the deep saltwater pool. Its five bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, the house has five portable Urbanears Bluetooth speakers, there are fitted AC units in all rooms, and in spite of the stone structure, the house is beautifully lit with a mix of natural light and excellent interior lighting. It can also be heated and used outside the summer season.

On the first floor, next to the kitchen, you find the main dining room, with a large jacaranda table seating 12 under the designer chandelier. This room also houses a recently tuned piano and a working fireplace that makes it the perfect place for entertaining. Next is the living room with plenty of cosy sofas and armchairs in front of another large, working fireplace. Also on the first floor is a romantic green bedroom with a double bed in front of a french balcony and with an ensuite bathroom with a green marble floor and a shower. One storey up there is another bedroom with a double bed, several cupboards and an ensuite bathroom. From the main stairwell, there is access to a big guest bathroom with a shower.

The big master bedroom suite is another half-storey up and boasts a french balcony with magnificent views, a double bed and a fireplace. The ensuite bathroom is accessed by a small staircase and has a freestanding bathtub and a shower. The top floor has two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. One bedroom has a double bed and the other one has a double bed and a bed sofa that sleeps two persons.

Finally, on the very top of the house is the studio with amazing views over the rooftops of Fornalutx, the mountains and the valley. It’s a big space, ideal for activities like yoga, reading or spending time with friends. The studio is also equipped with a Chromecast-enabled projector and is often used as a home cinema at the night. Just outside the studio is a roof terrace of approx 25 square metres equipped with a garden table, sun chairs and an outdoor shower for cooling on hot days. The terrace is perfect for pre-dinner drinks and snacks.

HISTORY

From its medieval origins, Posada de Balitx was used as a summer house for a prominent family of Mallorca. Today it's a wonderful accommodation located in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.
