Manacor is the second biggest town in Mallorca and offers all kinds of different activities. For instance, it has the coastal beauty of Porto Cristo, which despite being a popular area is a quiet and peaceful harbour. It is the perfect place for soaking up the delightful Mediterranean views. Moreover, if you want to be enchanted by the excellent birds-eye views of the island you should try a balloon trip!  Manacor has a balloon centre that will provide an unforgettable experience from the sky.

The pedestrian area of the town is worth visiting, especially on Mondays when the local market is held. In this traditional market you will find products of all kinds: food, clothes and handcraft made of olive wood (which is typical of Manacor). Also, people who like impressive buildings should visit the church in the morning.

Caves to visit

Some of Manacor's main attractions are the caves that you will find throughout the region. The calcareous soil has created a wonderful and mysterious system of caves by erosion. The most famous are:

  • The Drach Caves: getting inside the Drach Caves is like entering a fantasy world. They are 1,200 metres long, where the lake Martel is hidden. This lake is considered to be the longest underground lake in the world. You enjoy an underground lake journey by boat surrounded by stalactites and stalagmites while listening to classical music.
  • The Hams Caves: the journey through the Hams' caves takes approximately an hour while experiencing a spectacle of lights and colours.
  • The Pirate's Caves: sand and sea enter these caves, which take you away on a secret and mythical journey.
  • Can Senyoret's Caves: these are artificial caves of excavated undersoil which represent some of the most ancient monuments on the islands. In some of these caves you will find remnants from as far back as the Talaiotic age.
