History & Culture

In Sencelles and the neighbouring town of Montuiri, there are important ancient remains and archaeological sites. You can discover the island's ancient past in large stone monuments called Talayots. Moreover, an important figure in the culture of the island is Sister Francinaina Cirer (1781–1855) who was born in Sencelles. In Mallorca she is worshipped for her healing powers and was beatified by Pope John Paul II.
